Whew…

Hey everyone. I apologize for my extended absence. As you know from my previous post, I started a new position a couple of weeks ago. As with any new job, there is so much to learn. Not only from a technical standpoint, but also from an administrative angle. Every company and industry have a different way of doing things, whether it be due to regulations or just general company policy. The company I’m currently working at places a heavy emphasis in documentation and change control. Before you’re allowed to do many things, you must be ‘trained’ on them through official channels. Needless to say, things have been slow going but I’m looking forward to coming up to full speed!
Also needless to say, I am exhausted when I get home from work and lose any motivation to hit the Cisco books. I did start work on the MPLS Traffic Engineering article though and I do plan to finish it. As they say though, “It will just be a matter of time.”
You’ll hear from me, and hopefully soon. To those in American, have a safe and fun Independence Day weekend.

Good morning everyone. I’ll be winding down on my final week here at my current employer. I’m crossing my fingers that the client will let have a couple days off as I jump right into the new position next Monday.
- FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) or wireless, which is more cost-effective? - A brief look at the current offerings of these two technologies.
- Airlines look to in-flight broadband - I would gladly pay a small fee to enjoy this service.
- T-Mobile sues Starbucks over AT&T Internet deal - Yikes, Starbucks is already starting to feel some financial pinches…now this?

Friday Morning Fun - 5/30/2008

Good news, everyone! I landed a new position, effective 2 weeks from next Monday. I’m taking a hiatus from the life of consulting and going back to work in the enterprise. No more ‘outsider’ status when working at a client, no more rolling the dice when it comes to where I’ll be at next…I’m looking forward to working with a team again and really feeling like a part of the bigger picture within a company.
The best part is I will now be working 5 minutes from home. This should help get me back on track with the MPLS series as well as future articles.
Enough about me though….
- How My Wife Castrated My DVD Collection - Well, not my wife…she’s pretty cool with my love for action and semi-B-rated flicks.
- The Dawn of Free Internet Access? - I imagine that until wireless bandwidth speeds increase, any free access will be too saturated to be usable. Unless, that is, you’re the type to beat the rush and log on at 3am.
- Five Best Start Pages - I’m a fan of Netvibes, but iGoogle isn’t bad.
- Blobular - Today’s time waster!
