New Theme

Well, I decided it was high-time to upgrade to the latest version of Wordpress. As I was doing so, I decided the website could use a little cleaning up. I switched to a theme that I thought was much more readable and supported Wordpress widgets. So far, I’m loving it! Let me know how you feel about the new look when you have a moment!

Buy Me a Beer!

I always thought it would be a bit tacky to ask my readers for donations to help keep this site going, but then I came across this excellent Wordpress plugin: Buy Me a Beer! When I do freelance work for friends and family, I don’t ask for money. A dinner or a beer is usually just fine. I figured the same concept applies here! I’ve been hitting the books/labs hard for my CCIE, so please excuse my lack of posts. I still have some CCNA/CCNP training discs to review as well as some dynamips updates. But for now, I’m knee deep in work and multicast/BGP world.

Wordpress Comment Spam

Okay… I need some assistance! Does anyone have a suggestion for a Wordpress comment spam filter that works better than the complimentary Akismet? I seem to have acquired the daily chore of cleaning up spam that makes it past the filters and am hoping there is a better way.

CCIE Route/Switch Lab Materials

Okay, so now that I have passed the ‘entrance exam’ (woohoo!), I must begin a quest to find as much lab study material as possible. Suggestions anybody? I’ve been using the most excellent Cisco simulator - Dynamips - along with the Dynagen front-end. I’m looking for some good lab write-ups (free or otherwise) to run through.

Still here…barely.

I apologize for my absence lately. My manager unexpectedly quit and I’ve had to take up a lot slack at work. Needless to say, blog entries have been pretty low on the priority list as I work in a highly-critical 24×7 environment, which can create all sorts of crazy working hours. I will not abandon all hope for this blog though, so be on the lookout for future posts.
