What certs are you pursuing?

January 16th, 2008 neteng

I thought it would be interesting to find out what certifications my readers are pursuing. I know that a lot of what I post pertains to the CCIE Routing & Switching, but I’m sure you folks are pursuing other avenues (security, voice, etc.). I’m trying to decide what I want to focus on next and have run into the classic question of security vs. voice. I have more experience with security then I do voice, but voice is kind of interesting to me as well.

So what are you looking to achieve in this new year?

CCIE Job Hunting Tips

January 15th, 2008 neteng

Emmanuel Conde has written a great article for the CCIE looking to take advantage of his/her new certification. I’m pretty happy with my current position, but this is advice that I will definitely take heed of should I return to the job market. Here’s a tip from the piece that I never would have thought of:

How do you handle job boards? You can use these anonymously. Don’t be afraid of taking your resume and putting it on Monster, Dice, HotJobs, CareerBuilder or BradReese.com. If you are trying to remain anonymous, make sure to change the properties of your word document so your name is removed. I use this all of the time to see who posted their resume on a job board and most times the anonymous posting has the name of the document creator in the document properties.

Those Microsoft documents can be sneaky! I recommend reading the rest of the article.
