I’m busy working away on the next MPLS article, but I came across this last night and wanted to share. Very cool for Netflix subscribers with a Vista PC running Media Center. You can stream the Watch Now videos to your Xbox-360 and watch them on your television instead of creating temporary tunnel vision from staring at your laptop screen too long!

Upcoming CCIE Lab

On Monday of next week, just 3 days away, my big day will have finally arrived. It’s my first sitting for the CCIE Routing & Switching lab. I have hope that it’s also my last, but seeing as how the pass rate for first-time sitters is around 10%, I certainly don’t want to get my hopes up. It’s been a long year-and-a-half of studying for me and the payoff would be nice, but I’m trying to look at Monday as just a trial run. I’ll get in there, do my best, and if I don’t pass, at least I know what to expect for the next time around.
As the day approaches, I think back to the first time I took my CCNA exam. I failed on the first sitting by a few points. I had gotten my MCSE not too long before that and I figured, “Pssh.. One test? No problem”. Since the failure, I’ve passed every Cisco test on the first try. I learned my lesson and realized that Cisco does not play around when it comes to certifying people. Sure, you can still get braindumps and such online, but for those that push hard and try to master the subject matter on their own, the exams provide a real challenge and you have to become one with IOS and networking behavior in general.
The wife (she has been the Queen of Moral Support) and I are flying out on Sunday and coming home Tuesday. Of course, I will keep you all in the loop as soon as I get that nice little score report from Cisco in my inbox. Until then, I’m going to try and have a relaxing weekend and enjoy some time away from the books.
